ASUS Router Default Admin Login

How To Login at a ASUS Router

Now that you have found the perfect ASUS router for your needs, you would want to set it up so that you can make full use of its capabilities. Switch on the device and connect your computer/laptop to the Wi-Fi network. Open Chrome, or any other browser of your choice and type in the default private IP listed on the router’s back in the address bar. Most Asus routers will let you directly into the admin panel. If the page prompts you to enter a username and a password, use “admin” for both. Note it’s possible that your Internet Service Provider has already changed the default private IP for your Asus router while setting up the network. Call them to find out the new IP if you are unable to log into the address listed by the manufacturer.

More about the ASUS Vendor

Established in 1989, ASUSTek Computer Inc. is a Taiwanese computer and phone hardware manufacturer, and one of the biggest players in the industry today. ASUS produces a wide range of hardware solutions, including routers but also desktop computers, laptops, netbooks, mobile phones, networking equipment, monitors, projectors, motherboards, graphics cards, optical storage, multimedia products, peripherals, wearables, servers, workstations, and tablet PCs. ASUS is registered on the Taiwan Stock Exchange with ticker code 2357 and in 2022 it had an annual revenue of 412 billion New Taiwanese Dollars, which is the equivalent of over 13 billion USD. ASUS was established by four former Acer hardware engineers - T.H. Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, and M.T. Liao. Their initial purpose is to create a motherboard Taiwanese companies can use since Acer was supplying IBM with most of their production. In addition to Taiwan, ASUS currently operates manufacturing facilities in Mainland China, Mexico, and the Czech Republic. In addition to that, it has over 400 official partners across the globe they supply with computer parts and technical support.

Asus Routers Models and Types

Asus has three main brands/series they manufacture their routers:

  • ROG – Republic of Gamers
  • ASUS Gaming Routers
  • ASUS WiFi Routers

As evident from the brand names, they cater to the specific needs of gamers, trying and mostly succeeding in providing a stable, high-speed connection for an uninterrupted online gaming experience. The ASUS WiFi Routers line is aimed at casual users, who still want a wide range, uninterrupted wireless connection at their home or office.

Asus RT-AX58U is one of the most popular models. This dual-band router has a rather competitive price compared to other devices in its class, as well as Strong Wi-Fi 6 performance. In addition, the admin panel has intuitive and rather effective parental control features.

Asus ZenWiFi AX Hybrid XP4 is a router in the $300+ range that might be a bit complicated to set up at first. However, it blows away the competition and lower-range ASUS models alike in terms of performance. The AX Hybrid XP4 comes with a PowerLine option for mesh Wi-Fi which really comes in handy.

Troubleshooting the Two Most Common Issues with ASUS Routers

One of the most common issues users have with ASUS routers is that they are unable to connect to the internet. The issue is usually pretty straightforward to resolve by turning the device off and back on again. Once the router is reset, you might want to connect your laptop to it and head to the admin panel to see if any of the recent changes you’ve made were responsible for the issue.

Another common problem ASUS routers have are when the connection fails once you get your internet-capable device several meters away from the router. Note that by default some ASUS routers create two Wi-Fi networks – a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz one. Check which of the two you are connected. The 5 GHz one offers a faster and more stable connection in close range. It is perfect for streaming and gaming, but the 2.4 GHz one is the one you’d want to use if you are accessing the internet from another room for example.
